Overview

A considered approach to windows

Windows do more for a house than almost any other single component — they shape how rooms feel, how the home performs in winter and summer, and how the exterior reads from the street. Installed correctly, they're an upgrade you notice every day; installed poorly, they're the source of drafts, leaks, and regret.

01

Replacement Versus Full-Frame — The Right Call

Insert replacements are faster and less disruptive; full-frame replacements address rot, air sealing, and out-of-square openings that inserts can't reach. We evaluate every opening individually rather than applying a one-size approach, and we tell you honestly which approach each window deserves. The wrong choice locks in old problems behind beautiful new sashes.

02

Air Sealing That Eliminates Drafts

Most drafty windows aren't actually drafty windows — they're drafty installations. We air-seal the rough opening with proper backer rod and low-expansion foam, lap flashing tapes onto the WRB in the correct sequence, and treat the perimeter as a continuous air and water barrier. The window's published performance numbers are only achievable if the installation respects them.

03

Glass Packages Tuned to Each Elevation

South-facing glass, west-facing glass, and north-facing glass all want different coatings to balance light, heat, and glare. We specify glass packages by elevation rather than buying the same unit for every opening, so the home heats efficiently in winter, stays comfortable in summer, and doesn't fade your furniture by August.

04

Frame Materials Chosen for the Long Run

Vinyl, fiberglass, clad-wood, and aluminum all have legitimate uses and meaningful differences. We help you weigh aesthetics, longevity, maintenance, and budget so the frame material matches your home's character and your tolerance for upkeep. The right frame, properly installed, will outlast the mortgage.

05

Trim and Casing That Look Original

New windows often look new in the wrong way — proud of the wall, thin on the casing, slightly off the original lines. We rebuild interior and exterior trim to match the home's existing profiles so the new windows read as part of the architecture rather than as recent shopping. The trim is what makes the installation look intentional.

06

Water Management at Every Sill

Water always finds the path of least resistance, and that path is usually around the bottom of the window. We pan-flash every sill, lap weather barriers in the correct order, and slope sills so water exits the way it's supposed to instead of finding its way into the wall cavity. Done right, the wall stays dry for the lifetime of the window.

07

Noise Reduction Where It Matters

If your home backs to a busy road, sits near a school, or shares a wall with a neighbor, we can specify glass packages and frame combinations that meaningfully reduce sound transmission. The quietest rooms in a house are often the bedrooms that face the wrong way; the right glass closes that gap.

08

Egress and Code Compliance Verified

Bedrooms and basements have minimum egress requirements that older windows frequently fail to meet. We confirm egress sizing during every project, enlarge openings when necessary, and document compliance so the home is both safer to live in and cleaner to sell when the time comes.

09

A Whole-House Project Sequenced Sanely

Replacing every window in a house in one campaign is faster, cleaner, and almost always cheaper per opening than doing them a few at a time. We sequence the work by elevation, protect interior finishes, and minimize the number of days the home is opened to weather. Most full-house projects are buttoned up within a week of starting.
