Kitchen Remodels
Overview

A considered approach to kitchen remodels

The kitchen is where mornings start, homework happens, and most of your guests will somehow end up no matter how nice the living room looks. A great kitchen remodel earns its keep three times a day, which is why we approach this work as equal parts engineering, ergonomics, and design.

01

Layouts Built Around How You Cook

Every kitchen is really a workflow, and the best layouts shorten the distances between the things you reach for most often. We start with how you actually cook — solo weeknight dinners, two-cook holiday productions, big-batch meal prep — and design work triangles, landing zones, and traffic lanes around that reality. The cabinet plan follows the workflow, not the other way around.

02

Cabinetry That Earns Its Place

We specify cabinetry from manufacturers who build doors and boxes that stay square for decades, with dovetailed drawers, soft-close hardware, and finishes that hold up to daily use. Inside, we plan storage at the inch — pull-outs sized to your sheet pans, drawer dividers for the utensils you actually use, deep banks for mixing bowls instead of awkward upper cabinets you'd need a step stool to reach.

03

Countertops Chosen for Real Life

Counters live a hard life: hot pans, red wine, knife slips, kids' art projects. We help you choose materials whose strengths match the way your household actually treats a kitchen, and we honestly talk through the trade-offs of quartz, quartzite, granite, and the increasingly capable porcelain slabs. The result is a surface you'll still love five years in, not one that looked perfect in the showroom and disappointed at home.

04

Lighting in Three Layers

A kitchen needs ambient light to fill the room, task light to keep your knuckles safe at the cutting board, and accent light to give the space depth at night. We design all three from the start, integrating under-cabinet runs, properly placed pendants, and dimmable recessed cans on separate switches so the same room can host a holiday dinner and a quiet cup of coffee with equal grace.

05

Plumbing and Electrical Brought Up to Today's Code

Most kitchens we open up reveal aging supply lines, undersized circuits, and outlet placement designed for a different decade of appliances. We rerun what needs to be rerun, add the dedicated circuits modern induction ranges and combi ovens require, and place outlets where they're actually useful — on islands, inside drawers, under upper cabinets — instead of wherever the original electrician found a stud.

06

Ventilation That Actually Vents

A range hood is only as good as the duct behind it, and a surprising number of kitchens have hoods that recirculate grease back into the room. We size hoods to your cooktop, run rigid ductwork on the shortest practical path to the exterior, and verify make-up air so your range doesn't fight the rest of the house. Cooking smells leave, your cabinets stay clean, and your home doesn't depressurize when the hood is on high.

07

Islands, Peninsulas, and the Geometry of Gathering

If there's room for an island, it usually becomes the most-used surface in the house. We size islands so two people can pass behind a seated guest without choreography, locate seating so conversation flows naturally, and integrate prep sinks, outlets, and trash pull-outs where they actually shorten the daily walk. When a peninsula is the better answer, we'll tell you that too.

08

Finishes That Age the Way You Want Them To

Trends move fast in kitchens; finishes don't have to. We help you anchor the major surfaces in materials and tones that will read well a decade from now, and reserve trendier moves for hardware, paint, and accessories you can swap inexpensively when you're ready for a change. The kitchens we're proudest of look as good in year ten as they did the week we handed over the keys.

09

Living Through the Remodel

Kitchen remodels are disruptive by nature, and pretending otherwise helps no one. We set up a temporary cook station, contain dust at the source, protect adjacent floors and millwork, and sequence demo, rough-in, and finish phases to keep the timeline tight. Most clients tell us the build went faster and cleaner than they expected, which is exactly the bar we hold ourselves to.
